Man killed after collision with police car in Birmingham
A man has died after a collision involving a police car in Birmingham. The 40 year old man was walking when the police car smashed into him, killing him instantly.
West Midlands Police said the incident took place near the junction of Yardley Road and Florence Road in Acocks Green just before 7pm on Wednesday.
Officers were responding to an emergency call concerning a report of a man carrying knives in a nearby area at the time of the collision.
The 40-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The force said it is supporting his family and liaising with the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The two officers in the vehicle were not hurt.
