A man suspected of breaking into Karim Benzema’s Madrid mansion was arrested whilst trying to cross into France.
Spanish police revealed yesterday they had arrested one of the suspected gang members who raided the football star’s home.
The Ballon d’Or winner’s San Sebastian de los Reyes pad was targeted while he was playing for Real Madrid at home against Elche in January.
Officers posted a video of them escorting the unnamed man in handcuffs into custody.
It was the second time the 34-year-old had been targeted by burglars while he was on the pitch.
In 2019 Benzema’s house was raided whilst Real were playing Barcelona in their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg clash.
Confirming the arrest, Spain’s National Police said: ‘Officers have arrested a man suspected of the burglary committed at the start of the year at the home of a well-known footballer.
‘He was held in the early hours of Thursday morning in La Junquera and has been remanded in prison following a court appearance.

‘The investigation began on January 23 when police were informed about a violent break-in at the player’s property in Madrid.
‘The criminals had broken and forced open windows before entering the property and stealing items of high-economic value.’
He is now the second man to have been arrested over the robbery, with a senior Albanian government official being arrested in May.
The same man has also been accused of dozens of other break-ins since 2013 and faces extradition to Spain.
Benzema became the oldest Ballon d’Or winner since 1956 earlier this month, and the first Frenchman since 1998 to claim the coveted prize, following a scintillating year with Real Madrid.
