Man arrested after 60-year-old pedestrian dies in hit and run | UK News

A man has been arrested after 60-year-old man was killed in a hit and run.

The pedestrian was struck by a car in Vicarage Road, at the junction of Tile Kiln Lane, Bexley shortly after 11.30pm on Friday.

Met Police officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended, but despite efforts to save him the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the car failed to stop at the scene.

A 45-year-old man later attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision.

Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who was travelling on or near Vicarage Road at the time of the incident and may have captured events on a dashcam to get in contact.

You can call the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8246 9820 or dial 101 quoting CAD 9294/15Oct.

Meanwhile, another man was killed shortly after 6pm on Saturday after reportedly being struck by a car and a van on the A21 near Pembury in Kent.

Kent Police said the victim, who was in his 40s, had been driving a white Isuzu pickup truck and trailer and collided with the central reservation.

It’s then believed he got out of his vehicle and was on foot when he was struck by a grey Vauxhall Vivaro and a grey Skoda Kodiaq.

Medical crews attended, but the man died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Police would like any witnesses or drivers with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

Call Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeal line on 01622 798538, or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk, quoting reference EX/HG/109/24.
