Mae Muller placed the UK second to last in the Eurovision Song Contest’s Grand Final 2023, with Germany landing bottom of the score board.

The 25-year-old singer closed the spectacular show with I Wrote A Song, igniting unwavering support from UK fans, but sadly her performance didn’t attract the attention of rival countries and secured a total of just 24 points.

The UK placed just six points ahead of Germany, who left the competition in last place.

The competition was won by Sweden who scored an impressive 583 points, with Loreen becoming becoming the first woman, and only the second person, to win twice.

The singer, 39, who previously triumphed in 2012, narrowly beat Finland’s Kaarija after the public and jury votes were combined.

Mae followed in the footsteps of last year’s entry Sam Ryder, who came in second place with his smash hit Space Man.

Hours ahead of her performance, she shared a touching post reflecting on the ‘whirlwind’ past few months.

Taking to Instagram, Mae wrote: ‘I can’t believe we made it to May 13th. The last 3 months have been a whirlwind.
