Luke Littler has revealed the classy message of support he received from Rob Cross after booking his place in the World Darts Championship final.

The 16-year-old continued his fairytale run in the competition by beating former world champion Cross 6-2 with another incredible performance at Alexandra Palace.

Luke Humphries awaits in Wednesday’s final where Little can become the youngest world champion in darts history.

Cross won the first set and averaged more than a 100 on Tuesday evening but was unable to halt the teenager’s remarkable march towards glory.

Littler is attempting to win the championship on his debut, as Cross himself did when he beat Phil Taylor back in 2018, having turned professional just 11 months earlier.

After the match, Cross was seen speaking to his young rival on stage. Asked what ‘Voltage’ had said to him, Littler said: “He just said “God bless, I respect you and do it”.

‘I have no words, it’s just crazy, that I’m in a World Championship final on my debut. I was happy winning one game but I could go all the way.

‘My target was to still be here after Christmas and now here I am in the final. I’ve just settled on the stage – once I find the rhythm, I’m good to go.’

Littler has become one of the most popular names in British sport in a matter of weeks after his remarkable run in the capital.

Humphries now awaits in Wednesday’s final. His 6-0 win over Scott Williams extended his unbeaten run to 18 games and officially became the no1 ranked player in the sport in the process.

But he expects a huge test against Littler, believing he will need to improve on Tuesday’s wonderful performance to lift the Sid Waddell trophy.

‘Nothing is going to phase him I’m probably going to have to play the game of my life,’ Humphries said.

‘I’ve got an uphill task and hopefully we can give the people one of the best world finals ever seen.’
