The Love Island reunion got off to an explosive start after Shaq Muhammad called out Martin Akinola over ‘disgusting’ comments about Tanya Manhenga.

Shaq, 25, and Tanya, 23, had a turbulent journey during their time in the villa, but ended up finishing in fourth place.

During Sunday’s reunion special, Maya Jama reminisced on the loved-up pair’s ups and downs, and later welcomed Martin on the sofa to discuss the fall-out after Casa Amor.

Things got a little intense after Shaq blasted Martin for the X-rated comments he made about Tanya during an appearance on the Reality podcast with Will Njobvu.

Martin previously claimed he told an emotional Shaq: ‘On the outside out I would be f***ing your girls in ways you can’t imagine.

‘He was crying that night and everyone thought he was crying because of the Movie Night, no he was crying because of what I told him.’

Wanting to hear his side, Shaq seethed: ‘I think for me, I want to I want to know why you (Martin) came out of the show and started talking on podcasts saying you would sleep with Tanya in ways you can’t imagine.

‘Because one – that did not happen and two if that’s how you choose to speak about women, that’s up to you. But it’s disgusting.’

Martin replied: ‘Okay, fair enough. That’s fair enough. But if you watch the podcast you’d know that’s not what happened.

‘But, but what I will say is, I didn’t expect you to, you know, say that’s what happened or whatever.

‘But I will say, yeah I crossed the line there. You know, I shouldn’t have said that. So I apologise to Tanya, mostly because we never acknowledged what was talked about.’

Finishing the debate, Shaq said: ‘I just want to clarify that you didn’t say that and the reason why I was upset on Movie Night was because I was upset about the whole environment and I was missing home.’

As the reunion was live, host Maya quickly interjected:’So sorry we’ve got to move on just because time is live but thank you so much for joining us. We can discuss this off camera later.’

Love Island is available to stream on ITVX.
