Love Island star Paige Turley explains why she and Finn Tapp broke up after winning series

Love Island star Paige Turley has opened up on her break-up from Finn Tapp, explaining why they decided to call time on their relationship.

In 2019, the former couple were crowned the winners of the ITV2 series, taking home the £50,000 prize after being in a couple from day six all the way through to the final on day 44.

In the real world, the pair continued going strong, spending lockdown together during the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, in April this year, it was reported that they’d split after three years of dating.

On Sunday June 11, Paige was a special guest on the Love Island: Aftersun sister show, where she was joined by her series six co-star Shaughna Phillips, who recently gave birth to a baby girl.

The two women stood behind the bar as they were addressed by host Maya Jama, who sensitively brought up Paige and Finn’s separation.

After mentioning their break-up, the 28-year-old presenter said: ‘It’s ok, onto the next. Can we ask what happened? Is it a secret?’

Paige, 25, was happy to answer honestly, responding: ‘No! Do you know what, we’re still really good friends. It was just… I think we drifted apart.

‘We’d done lockdown together. Any struggle we could face, we were faced with. But we’re still good friends.’

However, when asked if she was now looking to spark up a romance with someone else, Paige made it clear that she absolutely was not.

Shaughna then joked that Paige could be a bombshell, making a return to the show just like Adam Collard did in 2022.

Referencing her ex-boyfriend Finn, 23, the former winner remarked: ‘If he goes back in, then there’s gonna be trouble.

‘We’re not having an Adam Collard bombshell again. If he started packing, then that’s it.’

When asked if Finn was ‘banned’ from going back into the villa, Paige confirmed that was the case.

Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
