The most expensive city in the UK, London isn’t exactly known for its reasonable property prices.

With the average house in the capital costing around £700,000, it’s hard to conceive how much the most expensive go for.

Well, now you don’t have to imagine: London’s most expensive house sale from 2023 has been revealed, and it’s in one of the capital’s most exclusive neighbourhoods.

Hanover Lodge, a 26,000 sq ft mansion in Regent’s Park, was sold for £113 million earlier this year and is believed to be the most expensive sale in the capital.

That’s more than 55 times the average house price in the area, which is currently £2,045,483 according to Rightmove — and more than 220 times the cost of the average home in London.

It’s even 15 times more than the average price of detached homes in Regent’s Park, which sits at around £7,116,667.

The Grade II-listed mansion, at 150 Park Road, was designed by Josh Nash in 1827 and built for General Sir Robert Arbuthnot, an officer in the British Army.

You’ve probably never heard of London’s ‘most visited’ attraction

To get the latest news from the capital visit Metro.co.uk’s London news hub.

The sprawling mansion currently features a large driveway, a gym, sauna and swimming pool as well as an art gallery.

Oh, and the swimming pool can be converted into a ballroom, you know, if that’s your thing.

It’s unclear who currently lives in the property, but it was bought be Indian billionaire Ravi Ruia this year, who founded the investment fund Essar.

It’s worth noting that other, more expensive properties have been advertised for sale with a higher price tag in 2023, but this is the highest one registered as sold.

It’s not the first time Hanover Lodge has made the list of London’s most expensive properties.

Back in 2014, the property was reportedly bought by Russian oligarch Andrey Goncharenko for £120 million, making it the most expensive townhouse ever sold in Britain.
