London weather to see temperatures drop to 12°C this week | UK News

Autumn has arrived and temperatures are continuing to drop by the day ahead of a cold snap this weekend.

Flood warnings were issued for 13 areas in England by the Environment Agency yesterday, with photos of residents wading through knee deep water and cars nearly submerged.

After yesterday’s torrential rainfall across the UK – with some areas getting 120mm of rain in just one day – the skies are temporarily clearing up.

Though we won’t see much rain today in London, parts of the region could see a spattering of light rain showers.

Calmer weather can be expected on Tuesday, though a few showers are possible.

Areas of heavy rain bring the ‘potential for disruption’, the Met Office says, with spray and flooding which could lead to difficult driving conditions.

Temperatures are expected to only reach highs of 18°C in the capital, plummeting to a chilly 12° at night.

Further north in Manchester, temperatures will hover around 15°C today, but go down to 9°C in the evening.

Much of the UK will be spared from rainfall today, but beginning Wednesday a large system is moving across the British Isles, bringing rain with it.

But worry not – the clouds will clear on Saturday for a cold and sunny day, with lows of 4°C, so break out a jacket.

It will be a welcome reprieve from the wet weather witnessed this week.

This past weekend, Storm Boris forced some locals in Stoke-on-Trent to evacuate their homes.

Telling how they heard a ‘massive bang’, one person said: ‘We’d only just got home. It was about 5.30pm. A car stopped outside and the driver shouted that the roof was on fire.

‘I think about four homes, including ours, were evacuated. We’ve all been sat in one of the neighbours’ houses.’

Coat weather is on its way with temperatures dipping to 12°C this week
