UK Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson shot in the head in south London
London’s Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson is in critical condition after being shot in the head in an incident in South London, her affiliated group, Taking the Initiative party, said on social media.
In a statement, the party said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, following “numerous death threats.”
It is believed the shooting happened at a house party and police have said that whilst the investigation is at an early stage, there is nothing to suggest it was a targeted attack or there had been any credible threats against her before this incident.
The statement said: “It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently hospitalised and in critical condition. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats.
