Thursday night proved to be a grim and miserable one for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Loki staged two of its most gruesome deaths to date.
The MCU series, currently midway through its second season, has followed Tim Hiddleston’s God of Mischief through so much timeslipping chaos thus far.
With Loki once again dealing having to deal with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), it was always a given among viewers that hijinks would soon follow.
But fans of the show weren’t ready for something the Disney series had up its sleeve this week, as several characters were wiped out in horrific fashion.
Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), and Brad/X-5 (Rafael Casal) spent episode four trying to take control of the TVA for themselves.
Along the way, they captured Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors), pruned D-90 (Neil Ellice), and then set their sights on General Dox (Kate Dickie) and her team.

Rather than hand themselves over, Dox and her team sacrificed themselves as they were horrifically crushed to death inside a shrinking box.
As Brad/X-5 looked on in terror, Loki viewers at home were left cowering behind their sofas as well, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disgust.
‘This was by far the most disturbing scene in the entire MCU,’ one person posted on the social media site. ‘This s**t right here genuinely had me shook.’

‘Along with Miss Minutes giving out that creepy smile while listening to their screams… genuinely horrifying,’ another viewer commented on the scene.
While the scene scared those watching on, praise was also heaped on the sound department for making the scene sound so graphic.
‘The blood dripping noises left me scared with goosebumps,’ one person sad, while another commented: ‘They went extra with the sound effects.’
Fans also waved a heart-breaking and grisly goodbye to Victor Timely at the end of the episode, who fixed the malfunctioning Temporal Loom but paid the price.
After fixing it, he was obliterated by an explosion of radiation from the time stream, which broke his body into hundreds of tiny, blood-soaked ribbons.
Watch Loki on Disney Plus.
