Liverpool have made Leroy Sane their top target to replace Mohamed Salah, according to reports.
Salah had attracted strong interest from the Saudi Pro League in the summer but Liverpool resisted all offers for the Egypt international.
It’s understood that Liverpool rejected a bid worth £150 million for Salah from Al-Ittihad but the Saudi club are expected to retain their interest.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool expect to lose Salah at the end of the season given the strength of the interest from the Saudi Pro League and Sane has already been lined up as the 31-year-old’s replacement.
The report claims that Liverpool are even willing to break their own transfer record, which is the £85m spent on Darwin Nunez, in order to sign Sane from Bayern Munich.

Sane is currently in his fourth season with Bayern Munich after joining in a £54.8m deal from Manchester City in 2020.
The Germany international has made an excellent start to the campaign with Bayern having scored seven goals in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League’s director of football, Michael Emenalo, has made it clear that he is keen to see the arrival of Salah.
‘Mo is welcome at any time, but no one is pressured or forced to come,’ Emenalo said this week.
‘If anyone wants to come here and there is an opportunity to work with the transferring club in a very respectful and professional manner, we would be very happy to have them.
‘But Mo is a personal favourite of mine.’
