Ten Hag is on the verge of United exit
The thumping on Sunday afternoon humiliated Manchester United at Old Trafford as Liverpool push Ten Hag closer to exit.
Much to the relief of supporters there will also be a mass exodus of players over the next 24 months as Sir Jim Radcliffe looks to revive the club.
How did Liverpool beat Man Utd?
Liverpool FC got another clean sheet and put in some monster performances at the back once again. It was Van Dijk at his best next to Konate who seems to be performing at exceptional levels. But the most notable and often overlooked, was Allison; he was quiet most of the game solid and made some key saves at 1-0 which were significant to the momentum of the game. He was a colossal force and a safe pair of hands the back and there’s no price you can put on having that assured quality at the back.
Their 3-0 win was masterly, outclassing United to leave the so-called “Theatre of Dreams” an empire of empty seats long before the final whistle, a result and performance perfectly designed to ensure Slot instantly wins the hearts of his new supporters.
Tactically Manchester United got it wrong in midfield, they are playing Liverpool, one of the best teams during pre-season. You have to be ready and up for a battle in the middle of the park, but United weren’t ready to deal with the press.
Basic facts
- Liverpool won 3-0 at Old Trafford
- 60% of United supporters left the stadium before the final whistle
- Boo’s echoed around the Theatre of Dreams at the end
- Based on the points; Manchester United are 15 points behind Liverpool FC
- Only 2 of Man United’s current team would make the Liverpool squad ( According to pundits)
- Only four Manchester United players have scored more goals at Old Trafford than Mo Salah since January 2021
Liverpool push Ten Hag closer to exit whilst setting new standards themselves
Arne Slot is the first Liverpool manager to win his first meeting with Manchester United since Bob Paisley in November 1975, and just the second to do so away from home after George Kay in November 1936.
He also became just the third manager to win each of his first three Premier League games without conceding, after Sven-Göran Eriksson in 2007 and José Mourinho in 2004.
As for Ten Hag realistically, if there is no sign of significant improvement or progress around October or November then he will be under real pressure because there was no doubt his removal was considered last summer.
Any positives for Man United?
After a game like that; are there any Positives for Man United, some may say we are clutching at straws but there is.
When United started the game they started with energy and against other teams, they would have made that start pay off. Unfortunately for United, they came up against a defence and midfield that literally absorbed the pressure and didn’t panic. Other teams will, so if United can do that in the key period of the game they will have success.
In Mainoo they have a wonderful talent, although he was bossed by the Liverpool midfield, he will learn from it and it will make him better. And on Casimero, he’s been slated on social media, but his experience will help Mainoo.
