Liverpool can continue to roll over opponents by winning at RB Leipzig
Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones don’t spring readily to mind when it’s time for a roll call of the best players in Liverpool’s team sitting proudly at the top of the Premier League table.
But the midfield combination were outstanding in Sunday’s 2-1 victory against Chelsea and if they continue to dominate opponents of Cole Palmer’s calibre the way they did against the Blues at Anfield, the Reds express is only going to gather steam.
Arne Slot and his players celebrated a statement win, casting aside criticism that their elevated status is down to a soft start to the season and any lingering doubts that they won’t last the pace have been largely banished.
There’s another huge test at Arsenal this weekend but Liverpool look overpriced at 21/10 to return home with maximum points and a victory which will leave the current price of 11/4 with Betway, Betfred and Sky Bet to win the title in the long forgotten past.
Jurgen Klopp’s ‘heavy metal football’ has been turned into a more refined approach which could also see the Reds flourish in Europe. They can prove the point in this week’s Champions League fixture at RB Leipzig – a club founded by Red Bull, for whom ex-Liverpool boss Klopp is primed to become head of global soccer.
Winners of ten of their 11 games in all competitions this season, Liverpool can build on the 3-1 victory at AC Milan and the 2-0 triumph against Bologna in front of the Kop by winning at 17/20 with Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill and others, while Mohamed Salah is 5/1 with Unibet and BetUK to open the scoring.
Elsewhere, over 3.5 goals in the match between Atalanta and Celtic is 13/10 with Unibet.
Then there’s Harry Kane’s shoot-out with Robert Lewandowski as Bundesliga table-toppers Bayern Munich travel to Spain to tackle LaLiga leaders Barcelona in the pick of Wednesday night’s action.
England captain Kane has scored 13 times in ten games, including a hat-trick – his third of the season – against Stuttgart at the weekend and is 27/20 with BetUK and Unibet to score in this match. Lewandowski has hit 14 goals in 12 games, including a double against Sevilla on Sunday and he’s 59/50 with the same firms to add to that tally.
• Phil Foden is 6/1 with Sky Bet to open the scoring when Manchester City entertain Sparta Prague in the Champions League. This should be a straightforward affair with the Czech side easier to break down than Wolves were at Molineux on Sunday and 8/11 with William Hill for City to win by more than 2.5 goals looks like money in the bank.
• The Wednesday Football League treble is Sheffield United, Burnley and Millwall.
