Lil Nas X took red carpet dressing to a whole new level at Monday night’s Met Gala when he rocked up wearing nothing but crystals and a metallic thong.
The exclusive bash draws some of the biggest names in Hollywood and beyond and acts as an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
This year’s theme was announced as Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, with Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Penelope Cruz serving as co-chairs beside the host, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Rapper Lil Nas X, 24, teamed up with Dame Pat McGrath for his eye-popping look, which took nine hours to create.
Speaking to Vogue about teaming up with Nas X for fashion’s biggest night, Dame Pat, 52, revealed that the Grammy-winner’s body was adorned with ‘thousands’ of crystals and that they started being applied at 9am on Monday morning.
Dame Pat also told the fashion bible that Nas X’s look was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved pet cat Choupette.

He certainly wasn’t the only Gala guest to take inspiration from the late designer’s famous feline.
Doja Cat and Jared Leto also decided to rock up to the event dressed as Choupette, and even floored Lizzo in the process.

While the former teamed a stunning Oscar de La Renta with bejewelled cat ears and some jaw-dropping facial prosthetics, Jared just straight up wore a giant Choupette costume, much to Lizzo’s surprise.
Lizzo was photographed embracing Jared with an iconic look of bewilderment on her face and the snaps will certainly go down in Met history.
While it was revealed earlier this week that Karl’s beloved cat Choupette was invited to the event, the feline sadly didn’t make an appearance.

Born on August 15, 2011, Choupette, a blue-cream tortie Birman, was originally owned by model Baptiste Giabiconi.
After Baptiste asked Karl to cat-sit for him, the designer quickly fell in love with the kitten, which Baptiste allowed him to keep.
