The coronation weekend is giving us our second May bank holiday – and wonderful as that is for many, it’s easy to lose track of what’s open and when.
Especially if you’re planning a coronation party and need to pop to the shops for some last minute coronation-themed food.
Maybe you need to brave a full shop in Lidl before back-to-work-Tuesday, fancy browsing the deals in the Middle of Lidl or just want to grab some cheap ingredients for the official coronation quiche?
We’re getting the extra day off this Monday, May 8 as King Charles III’s coronation is on Saturday (May 6).
So if you’re heading to Lidl, will your local store be open and if so, when?
Here’s what you need to know.

If you’re heading to Lidl on coronation bank holiday Monday, it’s important to check opening times for your local branch on the store finder before you go, as store opening times may vary.
Chessington Lidl, for example, is open on the Monday, but on shorter, ‘bank holiday’ hours – 10am-5pm (usually 8am-8pm).
London Lidl opening times
In London, it seems many stores will keep to their usual Monday hours on the May 8, such as:
Tottenham Court Road – 7am to 11pm
Clapham Road – 7am to 10pm
Old Kent Road – 7am to 11pm
Massinger Street – 8am to 10pm
Acre Lane – 8am to 10pm
As another example, the Tottenham Court Road and Enfield branches in London will open an hour later than usual on the bank holiday Monday (7am-11pm instead of their usual 6am opening time).

So as opening times may vary at Lidl stores on bank holidays, it’s safest to check in advance of your shopping trip.
