Lewis Hamilton Mourns Beloved Dog, Roscoe: ‘My Best Friend’

Lewis Hamilton has announced the heartbreaking news of the passing of his cherished bulldog, Roscoe, who died at the age of 12. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion tragically missed a tyre test on Friday after Roscoe was diagnosed with pneumonia, ultimately succumbing to his illness.

    Hamilton’s Heartfelt Tribute

In a touching post on social media platform X, Hamilton expressed his sorrow, stating: “Lost my best friend last night. Thank you all for the love you’ve shown him over the years. Roscoe forever.” The depth of his loss is palpable, as the racing icon reflected on Roscoe’s arduous battle for life.

    Difficult Decision to Say Goodbye

Hamilton detailed the emotional toll of his dog’s final days, revealing in an Instagram statement, “After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe.” The 40-year-old added, “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end,” conveying the profound bond they shared.

    Cherishing Memories

The former Mclaren driver fondly looked back on their time together, saying, “Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together.” His words resonate widely with pet owners, as Hamilton acknowledged the universal pain of losing a beloved animal companion.

Roscoe’s Legacy in the F1 Community

Since being adopted by Hamilton in 2013, Roscoe has been a beloved presence in the Formula 1 paddock and at various awards ceremonies, capturing the hearts of fans and fellow drivers alike. Hamilton’s heartfelt tribute serves as a reminder of the deep connections we form with our pets.

    Looking Ahead: Singapore Grand Prix

Despite this personal tragedy, Hamilton is scheduled to return to the track this weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix. The racing community and fans will undoubtedly rally around him as he faces this difficult time, demonstrating the solidarity that exists both on and off the circuit.

Hamilton’s poignant reflection on his beloved dog highlights the immeasurable love and companionship pets provide, making Roscoe’s memory one that will endure in the hearts of many.
