Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari felt ‘terrible’ after post-sprint win changes

Ferrari‘s Struggles Highlight Hamilton’s Frustration After Sprint Changes

Lewis Hamilton has expressed disappointment with the performance of his Ferrari, describing it as “terrible” following setup changes made after his sprint victory at the Chinese Grand Prix. The seasoned driver acknowledged the team’s need for improvement as they strive to close the gap with their rivals in the early stages of the season.

    Hamilton’s Post-Sprint Reflections

Following an impressive showing in the sprint qualifying where he secured pole position and clinched the win, Hamilton faced a significant challenge in the subsequent Grand Prix. He qualified fifth for the race and ultimately finished sixth on the track, only for both him and teammate Charles Leclerc to be disqualified due to technical infringements.

Hamilton elaborated on his struggles, stating, “Balance-wise, from the sprint race we made these changes and the car was terrible after that. So I really struggled from then on.” His comments reflect the team’s journey to adapt to the evolving demands of the car, hinting at potential lessons to be learned for future races.

    Ferrari’s Ongoing Challenges

Despite showcasing some potential during the sprint, Ferrari has encountered difficulties in maximizing performance during race weekends. Hamilton noted that the competition is fierce, indicating, “We can see where we are performance-wise; we clearly have to improve our pace as the guys ahead are pretty quick. We have some work to do to close the gap.”

With the constructors’ championship led by Mclaren, who have secured back-to-back victories, Hamilton’s insights underscore a growing urgency within Ferrari to enhance their competitiveness. Furthermore, Lando Norris’s ascension to the top of the drivers’ standings adds pressure for a team historically celebrated for its success in Formula 1.

Looking Ahead to the Japanese Grand Prix

As the F1 circus moves towards the Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese Grand Prix on April 4-6, the focus will be on whether Ferrari can recalibrate their setup and recapture the performance illustrated in the sprint. With Hamilton emphasizing the need for continuous improvement, fans will be eager to see how the team responds in the forthcoming race.

Overall, Hamilton’s candid assessment of the team’s current state reflects both frustration and a determination to overcome the hurdles they face as they look to regain a foothold at the top of Formula 1 standings.
