Leona Lewis has celebrated 15 years since her iconic single Bleeding Love released, and we have never felt so old.
In December 2006, the global superstar, known for her insane whistle tones, defeated former Brookside star Ray Quinn by a landslide which resulted in her bagging the £1million recording contract with Simon Cowell’s label Syco.
And to this day, Leona remains one of the most successful contestants of all time, even the late Whitney Houston offered to mentor the talented youngster while record executive Clive Davis signed Leona in the US for an astonishing £5million ($9.7million) deal.
The songwriter has had a string of number ones under her belt over her stellar career, but Leona’s emotive ballad Bleeding Love made waves like no other.
The hit became the first single by a British woman to top the US Billboard chart in over 20 years, and was also named the 17th most successful song in the US from 2000–2009.
And it’s still a catchy masterpiece after all these years.
Raising a glass to celebrate 15 years of the cinematic music video, which has over 200 million views online, she penned on Instagram: ’15 years today since ‘Bleeding Love’ was released ❤️.’
‘I know this song has been the soundtrack to so many peoples highs and lows in love and I’m so grateful you let me into your hearts to share those special moments with you.
‘I’m so thankful to everyone who’s ever shown this record and me love, I’ll be forever grateful to you. This is OUR song to celebrate together today.’
Several fans were absolutely living for the nostalgia, with one writing: ‘A masterclass in vocals – the first note still gives me goosebumps!’

‘When people used to make real music,’ another added.
The round-up of the UK’s biggest albums was recently revealed, and Leona’s Spirit triumphed in third place which featured hit singles including Run and Better In Time.
Spirit spent a total of seven weeks at number 1 in the winter of 2007, and has since spent 103 weeks inside the UK Album Chart.
‘I was overwhelmed with how much love it received and I just remember feeling the same then as I do now, endlessly thankful to everyone that listened and supported me,’ she said.
