Mason Greenwood has been offered a potential escape route from Manchester United on the final day of the transfer window.
The 21-year-old looked set to be welcomed back into the first team fold by Erik ten Hag earlier this summer, before United’s plan unraveled amid a significant backlash.
It was confirmed earlier this month that Greenwood would leave Old Trafford following the club’s internal investigation into his actions.
The 21-year-old has been suspended by United since January 2022 after he was arrested and subsequently charged by Manchester Police with attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.
All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February but United decided to conduct their own probe and after both the club and player announced that he would depart, CEO Richard Arnold penned an open letter to fans over the issue.

With no English clubs prepared to offer him a chance to resurrect his career a move abroad has become an increasing likelihood in recent weeks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Lazio have lodged a formal interest with United who are poised to make a decision before the window slams shut.
United, meanwhile, are still hopeful of making additions to their squad before the window slams shut this evening.
