The fire is under control now but there’s still a lot of toxins and smoke in the air

A single-storey warehouse in a scrap yard is currently alight, the fire service said, along with three diggers and numerous vehicles.

Local area is full of smoke

The fire is now under control, but crews will remain on scene this morning damping down hot spots.

According to the London Fire brigade, there’s large plumes of smoke bellowing in the area and local residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors shut where possible due to the smoke.

Two 32-metre turntable ladders have been deployed to deliver water from above, while a fire boat has also been mobilised.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.

The fire service took the first of 10 calls to the blaze just before 11pm, with crews from Bexley, Erith, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Sidcup and surrounding fire stations being mobilised.
