Lando Norris on how he found form: ‘Ignore everyone that talks crap’

Lando Norris on how he found form: ‘Ignore everyone that talks crap’

Norris Takes Command with Dominant Display in São Paulo Grand Prix

Lando Norris secured a commanding victory at the São Paulo Grand Prix, reinforcing his lead in the chase for his first Formula One world championship. The Mclaren driver arrived in Brazil with a slender one-point lead over teammate Oscar Piastri, but he now holds a significant 24-point advantage as he heads into the final stretches of the season with only 83 points up for grabs.

In reflecting on his recent surge in form, Norris revealed a key mantra that has fueled his success: “Ignore everyone that talks crap about you and focus on yourself.”

    A Weekend to Remember

    Norris Shines in Brazil

Norris showcased remarkable skill in Brazil, following a sprint victory with a dominating performance in the main race. His win marks two consecutive triumphs, also securing first place at the Mexican Grand Prix.

    Challenging Conditions

Despite his success, Norris admitted that McLaren may not have had the fastest car on the track. “To be honest, I don’t think we were the quickest today, but I’m glad to take home the win,” he stated. His ability to perform under pressure demonstrates his growth as a driver, especially after a tough few months, including a disappointing engine failure at Zandvoort.

    Championship Implications

    Rivalry with Piastri Intensifies

Oscar Piastri’s race did not go as planned; after crashing out in the sprint race, he finished fifth on Sunday, following a 10-second penalty for a collision. As a result, Norris is now in a stronger position to secure the championship, able to afford finishing behind his teammate in the last three races.

    Max Verstappen’s Challenge

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen, despite a brilliant fightback from a pit-lane start to finish third, finds himself 49 points adrift of the championship lead. The Red Bull driver will need a stellar comeback in the remaining races to regain contention.

    Norris’s Mindset Going Forward

When asked if he is beginning to dream of being crowned world champion, a cautious Norris replied, “No, not at all. It is a great win, but seeing how close Max was, it is disappointing that we were not quicker today.” He emphasised the importance of staying focused and not letting outside distractions affect his performance. “I will focus on myself, keep my head down, ignore everyone else and keep pushing.”

    Conclusion

As Lando Norris prepares for the upcoming races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, he emerges as a formidable contender for the championship. With renewed confidence and a clear strategy, the young driver is determined to maintain his focus and deliver exceptional performances, demonstrating that he is not just racing for himself but for his team and fans around the world.
