King Charles III delivers his first Christmas message
King Charles has been tipped to highlight the roles of Prince William and Princess Kate as well as their children in this year’s Christmas speech, a royal expert has suggested.
This year will mark the monarch’s second Christmas speech and is said to be on a more positive note, after last year’s sombre atmosphere, as it was the first one without the late Queen Elizabeth.
Last year, the monarch paid tribute to his mother while he also thanked people for the “love and sympathy” expressed following her death.
Among other topics, Charles also touched down on the cost-of-living crisis as he recognised the difficulties experienced by those struggling to “pay their bills and keep their families fed and warm”, while also praising those who “readily respond to the plight of others”.
But this year, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that the monarch’s “positive” message is likely to be focused on “his role as a symbol of continuity and national unity”. The Coronation and an environmental message are very likely to feature.

Mr Fitzwilliams said: “He is certain to stress the important role played by the Waleses and their children are likely to appear.
“It will be a positive message at this time of the year, though he may well express concern at the cost of living crisis.”
The royal commentator went on to add that the King should also not stray away from the country’s external affairs.

He said: “A mention of the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the war in Ukraine would surely be appropriate too.”
It comes as Charles carries on his “business as usual” approach after Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame was released last month, which unleashed a series of bombshell claims about the Royal Family.
The King – nor any member of the Firm – has not commented on any of the claims and has carried on with his engagements as usual.
