King Charles new portrait & City go top of Premier League table – Paper Talk
Wednesday’s front pages report on a variety of international and domestic topics, but most of the papers feature an image of the newly unveiled portrait of King Charles.
Several of the papers report UK education as new government guidelines are set to be unveiled this week. But other than that and King Charles, there’s not much else to unite the front pages.
Yesterday’s Premier League action dominates the back pages – and some space on the front pages as well, as Man City go top of the table, with only a game left to clinch a four straight Premier League title.

‘King Charles new portrait’
The Telegraph features the portrait of the King, but it leads with government minister Chris Philp, who tells the paper stop and search is a “vital tool” in taking knives off the streets but warns it is “not used nearly often enough” by police.
The Times leads on guidance issued by the government to schools regarding children not being taught about gender ID before the age of 13. The guidance will tell schools to avoid teaching children about gender identity.
The Daily Mail leads on government ministers will unveil a ban on schools teaching sex education to children under nine. Education Secretary Gillian Keegan is due to speak about the plans on Wednesday, the paper says. The paper also features the King’s new portrait – commissioned by The Drapers’ Company in 2020.
The Daily Express reports there is a “fighting chance” net migration will fall to 150,000 which the paper says would give Rishi Sunak “crucial boost”. The paper also reports Rishi Sunak is considering a general election on 14 November to stop Nigel Farage “wreaking havoc on the Tories’ campaign”.
The i newspaper leads on the study which reports weight loss jabs could cut the risk of heart attacks and strokes in people – even if they fail to lose much weight.
The Guardian leads on the US saying it will “reassess” ties with Georgia after the government in Tbilisi pushed through a law barring, what it calls, “foreign influence”.
The Metro leads on a food bank network Russell Trust which says the number of emergency food parcels handed out across the UK in a single year has reached its highest level – at more than three million.
The Daily Mirror leads on celebrity news, saying Britain’s Got Talent presenter Ant McPartlin has become a father for the very first time after his wife Anne-Marie gave birth to their bundle of joy.
