A new book claims the King furiously described his son Harry as ‘that fool’ after the release of his tell-all Netflix documentary.
The King’s alleged reaction to the series, which was produced as part of Harry and Meghan’s $100 million (£79.3 million) deal with the streaming giant, is detailed in an extract of a new book by one of the Sussexes’ biographers.
In an extract from ‘Endgame’ seen by The Sun, Omid Scobie writes: ‘At the Palace, heads were in hands and migraines were brewing.
‘[The show] took the wind out of everyone’s sails,” said one aide. “[He] went from not wanting anyone to talk about his son to openly criticising ‘that fool’.”
Charles’ reaction to the documentary is understood to have stood in stark contrast to his prior insistence that no-one speak about the pariah prince in his presence (Picture: PA)
Scobie further claims Kate and William considered an episode of South Park, in which Harry and Meghan were lampooned by being portrayed as taking a Worldwide Privacy Tour, as ‘hilarious.’
However, the new book has also drawn considerable criticism from Royal experts for the veracity of its insights and claims.
Phil Dampier, an author who has written about the Royal Family for more than 25 years, slammed Scobie for suggesting that Prince William and King Charles have fallen out.
He told The Sun: ‘It’s totally rubbish to suggest William and the King would ever be at loggerheads.
‘They’ve grown incredibly close and there is no way in which William would do anything to undermine him.’
Among Scobie’s other claims, the book also suggests that Charles can be very demanding when it comes to his luxurious lifestyle – including always insisting on perfectly-steamed 1,000-thread-count bed linen.

Scobie reportedly writes: ‘When [shoe] laces get even the smallest bit threadbare, a staff member must quickly switch them out with a fresh, ironed pair.
‘There is even a rumour (one that, surprisingly, sources have confirmed) that Charles likes to have someone squeeze exactly one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush for him ahead of his bedtime routine.’
