Kim Jong Un reportedly heading to Russia to meet Putin
North Korea’s Kim Jong UN is reportedly en route to Vladivostok for a summit with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
The North Korean leader is travelling in an armoured train that he uses for foreign visits. South Korean media reports the train has departed Pyongyang, citing a government official.
The meeting between the two is expected to take place as early as Tuesday local time.
If the summit with Putin goes ahead it will mark Kim’s first international trip in more than four years.
Kim and Putin are expected to discuss the possibility of North Korea supplying Moscow with weapons to support Moscow’s war in Ukraine, according to a US official.
The possible meeting comes after the White House said it had new information that arms negotiations between the two countries were “actively advancing”.
