Kanye West allegedly has plans to build a 100,000-acre city in the Middle East – as if we haven’t already had enough bizarre news in 2023.
The controversial rapper, 46, has been at the centre of some of this year’s wildest stories, including outlandish remarks, fashion statements with wife Bianca Censori, and the pair being banned from a boating company after an apparent sex act in public.
But his latest creative endeavour might take the cake for the entire year as it is claimed he has plans to build an enormous city in the Middle East, though hasn’t confirmed exactly where.
An X account under the name @unreleased_ye revealed details of the star’s alleged new business venture named DROAM, a self-sustaining city halfway across the world.
Currently in Phase 1 development, West has plans to create a 100,000-acre site – which would make it twice the size of New York City.
The post continues that West is seeking project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and builders to join the ambitious project.

However, fans have been left dubious whether DROAM will come to fruition following West’s catalogue of projects which have failed to materialise, including his recent collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign and his Los Angeles home which has fallen into disrepair.
X user Savio Joseph wrote: ‘If he can’t be elected president, he’ll just create a whole new country and declare himself president. What a Kanye thing to do.’
Similarly, @ykkswb added: ‘Bro went from trying to be the president of America to building his own city in the Middle East.’
@FemboyNya said they’ll believe it ‘when they see Akon city’, referring to the musician’s claims he too will build his own community in Senegal.
Others joked the musician will create ‘his own religion’ there, while others said the city will be filled with Yeezy’s and only play his music.
@FollowOfficial wrote: ‘Kanye west building cities in other countries Mark building underground compounds Elon musk over here building cars that can move in a war & then they got robots for police we in the Last days I’m a smoke through it 🤦♂️ merry Christmas I love you all ❤️🙏.’
@Dontgetsmokedd pointed out West’s history of unfinished projects, writing: ‘He couldn’t even drop an album, he is trying to drop a city.’
@thatweirdguy speculated there could be a ‘cult of Kanye’ incoming, while others were already planning their move to the new city.
‘Sounds like a kanye thing to do. would be great too. And i’m not going off being a kanye fan, just going off his morals and principles ARE in the right place,’ @MisunderstNomad said.
It comes after the star’s shocking claims that race is ‘made up’ and that Black people are actually Indian.
The Gold Digger rapper embarked on a lengthy rant last while hosting a private listening of his new album Vultures with singer Ty Dolla Sign.
‘We’re not Black! We’re Indian,’ he told the room of Black and white friends. ‘We’re native American. How many of y’all grandmas got Indian in your family?’
‘What happened to the Indian? Show me Black on the planet,’ the rap icon added.
