Liverpool have struck a £110million deal with Brighton for Moises Caicedo (Picture: Liverpool FC)
Jurgen Klopp has warned Liverpool they can take nothing for granted over the transfer of Moises Caicedo, despite confirming the club have reached an agreement with Brighton.
The Reds missed out on the signing of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid this summer, walking away from the deal after baulking at the finances involved.
Liverpool’s midfield rebuild has stalled in recent weeks following the departures of Fabinho and club captain Jordan Henderson.
Three bids for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia had left disgruntled fans frustrate by a lack of progress but Liverpool now look set to smash the British transfer record for player who had seemed destined for Chelsea.
The Blues are understood to remain keen to make one final attempt to land a player they have had their eye on since January and Klopp maintains there could still be a late twist in the long-running saga.
‘I can confirm the [Moises Caicedo] deal with the club is agreed, whatever that means in the end. Of course, we want the player and not just the agreement.’
