Cliff Notes – Joss Stone murder plotters released early after singer said she forgives them

    • Joss Stone expressed her desire to meet the men who plotted to kill her, stating she would like to have a ‘cup of tea’ with them despite the traumatic experience.
    • The men, Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw, were released early from prison after their sentences were reduced, with the Parole Board deeming them no longer dangerous.
    • Stone revealed she still seeks answers regarding the motive behind the murder plot, reflecting on the lasting impact it has had on her life and safety.

The men who plotted to murder singer Joss Stone have been released from prison early, with Stone previously declaring that she ‘forgives’ them.

In fact, the Masked Singer winner would like to sit down for a ‘cup of tea’ with the pair convicted of planning to rob and kill her.

Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw were both sentenced to prison in 2013 after being found guilty on charges of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to rob.

At the time, the Judge described that they had a ‘clear intention’ of killing the star, with Liverpool initially sentenced to life in prison and told he would serve a minimum term of 10 years and eight months.

As a result, the soul musician, 38, fled the UK for America, revealing just this week that she was preparing to return after a decade across the pond due to fear of their decapitation plans.

However, they’re already back on the streets, with the Court of Appeal slashing Liverpool’s minimum term to six and a half years. It has been determined by the Parole Board that they are no longer dangerous.

Bradshaw also had his initial 18-year sentence cut to 10 years after appealing, meaning both men were freed significantly earlier than originally expected.

The 38-year-old singer recently revealed that she’s still searching for ‘answers’ more than a decade after the murder plot was foiled by police, and she longs for an explanation.

Appearing on the Nicky Byrne HQ podcast, she said: ‘I still don’t even know if they were p***ed off at me or if they were hired by someone that was p***ed off at me. Who knows?

‘I don’t have a lot of answers. I hope they didn’t try and do that because they didn’t like a song or something, but I’ll never know. I would like to ask…

‘It’s one of those niggling things. I’m just like, “Can we just have a cup of tea? Can we just talk about it?”‘

Stone admitted the situation is still ‘traumatic’, but she still hopes the two men are ‘OK and healed’.

‘Of course, that is a horrible thing to have happened—but it didn’t happen. The idea that somebody would want to chop you up into small pieces and put you in a little bag is a bit jarring,’ she said.

‘But luckily, they didn’t get there. They didn’t hurt me … I just hope that they are OK and healed.

‘It’s a weird feeling because it’s hard to not feel sorry for people that are in that space. It’s also hard to not feel sorry for the mother of those people.’

Stone was not made aware of the plot to attack her at her home in Devon in 2011 until after the two men were arrested, and the You Had Me hitmaker remained scared for her safety for a long time.

‘That did make me feel really uncomfortable in that house as well, which is the house I grew up in,’ she recalled. ‘I woke up one morning in that place, and I said to Cody, “I don’t want to come back here ever.” And we never did.’

Stone, who has been living in the US with her husband Cody DaLuz and their four children, has become more safety-conscious since becoming a mum, but is now ready to move again.

‘I have my babies now, and my eldest baby needs to go to school. Also, now there’s four of them, I really need my mum! You’ve got to have a village to bring kids up. Can’t do it on your own,’ she added.

Over a decade after the terrifying murder plot was foiled, Stone also stated that she is no longer living in fear, insisting that ‘there’s going to be crazies’ in the world.

‘You can laugh at it, you can cry at it, you can be angry about it, you can feel empathy,’ she added.

‘But I think it’s just the universe’s way of saying, look after yourself, look after your babies, look after your bubble.’
