John Travolta reflects on his 1985 dance with Princess Diana
John Travolta has a deep connection to Prince Harry, which dates back to when he shared a dance with Princess Diana in 1985.
The 69-year-old Hollywood star was one of the biggest supporters of Harry to receive the Living Legends of Aviation award after he was honored on Friday.
Prince Harry was chosen not only because of his service in the military but also for his work through The Invictus Games and advocating for military personnel’s mental health.
Thanks to his contribution during his time as a British Army vet and pilot, including two tours in Afghanistan, Harry now stands alongside Elon Musk, John Travolta himself, and Tom Cruise as a Living Legend of Aviation.
The Danny Zukp actor’s deep connection with Harry runs a lot deeper than just supporting the Prince at the awards event as he shares a sweet connection because of his friendship with Princess Diana.

John famously danced with the late princess at a White House state dinner in 1985.
Travolta reminisced of that special moment recalling: “About 10 o’clock at night, Nancy Reagan tapped on my shoulder and said, ‘The princess, her fantasy is to dance with you. Would you dance with her tonight?'”
“And I said, ‘Well, of course. How does this work?’ And she said, ‘Well, at about midnight, I’ll come and get you, and then I’ll lead you over to her, and then you ask her to dance.'”
Last night the 21st annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards took place in Beverly Hills, hosted by John, who’s also a qualified pilot.

Prince Harry was in attendance, however, his wife Meghan Markle was not.
While Harry wasn’t supported by Meghan at the event it seemed he found a friend as Prince Mario Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who posted a selfie of the two together on Instagram.
Congratulations To HRH Prince Harry for his VERY MUCH DESERVED Living Legends of Aviation Award,” Mario Max captioned a selfie of the two smiling for the camera.
Harry’s nomination for a top aviation award has sparked debate, with some critics arguing that he’s getting the award just “because of who he is – not what he did”.
Navy bigwig Lord Alan West disagreed with the choice of Royal for the honours, saying: “He is not a living legend of aviation. To suggest he is is pathetic. It makes the whole thing seem a bit of a nonsense if they’re willing to pick someone like Prince Harry.”
Meanwhile, Colonel Richard Kemp praised Harry’s “bravery”, but suggested that “helicopter pilots who have done much more extraordinary things in Iraq and Afghanistan, risking their lives to rescue their fellow soldiers”, were more deserving.
