Joe Biden says Afghanistan evacuation deadline will remain amid threat of terror attack at airport
The Metro says President Joe Biden has announced he intends to stick to the Afghanistan evacuation deadline of August 31 – despite pleas from allies to extend the mission to airlift more people.
At a press conference from the White House on Tuesday evening, Biden said the operation is on track to finish by then, adding that it is vital to withdraw as soon as possible.
The president said there is a real threat of a terror attack on the airport in Kabul by the militant group ISIS-K, a branch of ISIS based in the country.
