Jermaine Jenas sacked after inappropriate messages to woman who works on The One Show
BBC star Jermaine Jenas has been sacked over claims of unsolicited inappropriate texts involving a female employee of The One Show, the Mirror can reveal.
The 41-year-old, who presented The One Show and appeared on Match of the Day, had his contract terminated by the corporation this week. The BBC received a complaint about text messages sent by the presenter last month, and started looking into it.
Today, Jenas broke his silence on the claims saying he “was not happy” and there are “two sides to every story”. But it quickly emerged that after one woman complained about the unsolicited messages, other female employees also came forward, according to reports. It is unclear about the content of the messages.
Staff at the BBC have been left in shock at the development. Director of Sport Alex Kay-Jelski emailed staff at 3.39pm on Thursday saying simply: “I wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas is no longer working for the BBC.” A source said: “It was brutally short and to the point. It felt like there was no messing around.”

Jack McManus has spoken for the first time since dumping heartbroken Martine McCutcheon.
The EastEnders legend took to Instagram to confirm that after 18 years, Jack had decided to call time on their marriage as she issued a heartbreaking statement. Martine said she “accepts” Jack’s decision to walk away but they will continue to co-parent their son, Rafferty.
She added that she wanted to send Jack “all the love, luck and happiness,” as he goes forward with his new life as a single man. But Jack has now spoken out. Neighbours of the former couple have also expressed their shock at Martine’s bombshell statement, insisting that they seemed to be the perfect family.
“There is nothing more to add. I will not be saying anything more about this,” Jack told the MailOnline. Meanwhile, his relatives had no idea they were on the rocks. Telling the publication, the unnamed resident said: “That is a big surprise. I’d often see them out with their son. Martine was always very friendly. I do feel sorry for them.”
