Dancing On Ice bosses are said to have set their sights on Jane McDonald to replace Phillip Schofield when the series returns next year.
The ITV competition show is down to just one presenter, Holly Willoughby, after Schofield stepped down from all of his television jobs at the network with immediate effect last month.
His resignation came after he admitted to an extramarital affair with a runner on This Morning.
According to reports, Jane, 60, is said to have impressed producers after she stepped in to replace Schofield at this year’s British Soap Awards earlier this month.
Insiders have claimed that she is now on the radar of ITV bosses at the skating series, with one source saying: ‘Jane is now the favourite to replace Phillip on Dancing on Ice when it returns next year.

‘She did a great job hosting the Soap Awards earlier this month and bosses are keen to sign her up.’
They added to the Mirror: ‘She had people in stitches – and they love how frank she is, while also being very warm.’
A spokesperson for ITV has said: ‘This is pure speculation, and we will not be confirming our talent for the 2024 series until later in the year.’

Of course, Jane would be a great candidate for the job having co-presented a number of television shows over the years, including Loose Women.
She has also helmed her own Bafta award-winning travel show, Cruising With Jane McDonald, which made its debut in 2017 on Channel 5.
Dancing On Ice is expected to return to ITV in January 2024.
