Antonio Conte launched an astonishing tirade against his players after their 3-3 draw against Southampton (Picture: Hayters TV)
Jamie Carragher has urged Tottenham to sack Antonio Conte ‘tonight’ following the astonishing tirade he launched at his players in the wake of Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Southampton.
Spurs looked on course to take a major step towards Champions League qualification when Ivan Perisic put his side 3-1 ahead with 15 minutes remaining at St Mary’s.
The relegation threatened Saints set-up a frantic finale when Theo Walcott reduced the deficit, before James Ward-Prowse earned a vital point with a contentious injury-time penalty.
Conte was left fuming with side at the concession of two points and let rip at them in his post match press conference, accusing them of a lack of heart.
The Italian spared almost nobody and even took aim at chairman Daniel Levy who is certain to take a dim view of his assessment of a club that has competed for major honours over the course of the last decade.
Conte’s future was already in a measure of doubt and Carragher believes Arsenal’s progress this season, having missed out on fourth place to their rivals a year ago, only served to undermine the arguments of a manager who he believes is waiting to be put out of his misery.
‘Conte wants to be sacked in this international break,’ the former Liverpool defender wrote on Twitter. ‘Spurs should just put him out of his misery and do it tonight.

‘His point about Spurs not winning for a long time is right, but you don’t speak about your own club like that.
‘Especially when you’re getting paid fortunes by them! The improvement in Arsenal this season after finishing above them last season kills a lot of his arguments.’
