Jake Paul has doubled down on his excuses for losing to Tommy Fury, insisting his rival’s performance had ‘nothing to do’ with his victory.
Fury sealed a split decision victory over his old rival in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night with Paul admitting he felt ‘flat’ on the night, claiming he had been sick in fight camp and had been nursing an arm injury.
While he still congratulated Fury on the night, the YouTuber-turned-boxer has now added jetlag as a possible reason for falling short on the night, adding his previous opponent Anderson Silva posed a much sterner test than the former Love Island star.
‘I was sick for four weeks out of this nine-week camp and the was travelling, jet-lagged for another week of that,’ Jake Paul told brother Logan’s podcast.
‘That’s what’s p*****g me off the most, it had nothing to do with him, it had everything to do with me.
‘He wasn’t that great at all, I think Anderson [Silva] was tougher than him and I figured out that puzzle. He threw a lot of punches, that was his biggest thing.’
Fury’s win took him to 9-0 with Paul suffering the first defeat of his seven-fight career.

While he was unable to get the knockout he and his family had promised to deliver, Fury cut an emotional figure as he celebrated the victory in the ring, dedicating the victory to his partner Molly-Mae Hague and his new baby Bambi.
Logan took aim at the emotional scenes, mocking his brother’s rival for celebrating the win ‘like he has won the World Cup’.
‘Split decision. Did Tommy really win? Technically, but you’re gonna celebrate that? You’re supposed to kill the YouTuber.
‘He took you eight rounds and dropped you. Are you satisfied? You celebrated like you won the World Cup.’
Meanwhile, Tommy’s father John Fury has ordered Paul to ‘pay up’ on the bet they agreed before their fight.
Prior to fight night, the YouTuber-turned boxer raised the stakes, offering to give his rival his entire cut of the fight purse if he could become the first man to beat him.
John Fury eagerly agreed to those terms on his son’s behalf and today called for the American to honour the agreement.
