Jamie Redknapp slammed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for his role in Everton’s late equaliser in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues looked on course to register a fourth straight win after Kai Havertz restored the lead with a 76th minute penalty.
Chelsea had gone in front thanks to Joao Felix’s first goal on home turf since his loan move from Atletico Madrid, only for Abdoulaye Doucoure level the match with 20 minutes remaining with a close-range header for Sean Dyche’s set-piece specialists.
Everton ultimately owed the valuable point they earned in their fight to stay up thanks to substitute Ellis Simms’ first goal for the club in the final minute.
The 22-year-old showed impressive strength to shrug off Kalidou Koulibaly but his shot looked to lack the power required to find the back of the net, only for it to squirm underneath the Chelsea goalkeeper.
‘If you go through Sean Dyche’s teams they’ve always had someone up there who can hold the ball up and bring people into play, that’s just always something he’s had,’ Redknapp told Sky Sports, analysing the goal.
‘It’s a lovely little touch from Doucoure and then the power he shows just to shrug off the defender is unbelievable, it’s so good.

‘The keeper, it’s so poor. He doesn’t make nearly enough saves for me. He just bends in to the corner bu the keeper should do better.’
Simms, meanwhile, spent the first half the season on loan at Sunderland before being recalled in January amid an injury crisis.

‘It’s about patience, I just had to wait for my chance,’ said the Everton hero afterwards.
‘We’ve got top players so I’m not going to walk straight into the team, I have to work hard and take my chance when I get it.
‘It’s massive belief, we’re working hard in training, staying united and sticking together when it gets tough. We went behind today but fought back to get the equaliser.’
