An Italian researcher has shared what he claims is evidence of a secret UFO crash that took place in Italy in 1933 – and was covered up by Benito Mussolini.

Roberto Pinotti, an aerospace engineer and ufologist, told MailOnline that he had obtained a number of documents including a report from the Italian Air Force that describes the crash of a ‘metallic object’ in Northern Italy on June 13, 1933.

Dr Pinotti has also claimed that the Italian government set up a secret department to study the craft and that this department continued to operate for several years.

‘I and my colleague Alfredo Lissoni began investigating the story of the 1933 UFO crash in Lombardy in 1996, when we received some original secret documents about the case,’ Dr Pinotti told MailOnline.

He added that the documents were mysteriously mailed to him from an anonymous source who claimed to have inherited them from a family member who worked on Italy’s alleged UFO program.

In 2018, Dr Pinotti published a book titled UFO Contacts in Italy, detailing how a flying saucer landed on the Adriatic coast.

The ‘evidence’ included two June 1933 telegrams in Italian, one demanding ‘absolute silence’ over an ‘alleged landing on national soil of unknown aircraft’.

Another, dated June 13, threatened the ‘immediate arrest’ and ‘maximum penalties’ for any journalists reporting news of an ‘aircraft of unknown nature and origin’.

Both documents claim to be a ‘personal order’ of ‘Il Duce’, the Italian dictator Mussolini himself. However, there is no confirmation of this claim.

The authenticity of the documents that Dr Pinotti has obtained has been questioned by some experts. However, the researcher claims they are genuine, and he has presented them to several organisations for evaluation.

In June, a former US intelligence officer alleged that the American government was hiding physical evidence of alien vehicles. The US government in turn rubbished these claims.
