Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists the club will not allow Kylian Mbappe to walk away for free next summer.
Mbappe’s future in the French capital has once again been thrown into doubt after informing the club he will not be extending his current contract beyond 2024.
His current deal has the option to extend to 2025, with the World Cup winner refusing to activate that clause.
PSG paid a fee of €180million to secure the Frenchman’s services back in 2017 with the forward’s decision leaving them in a difficult position – cash in this summer or face the possibility of him walking away for next year.
On Wednesday, the French champions confirmed the appointment of Luis Enrique as their new head coach, with the former Barcelona and Spain boss arriving at Parc de Princes to replace Christophe Galtier.
Alongside him at a press conference was Al-Khelaifi, who made it clear Mbappe will leave if no agreement is struck soon.
‘My position is very clear and I will not repeat it every time,’ Al-Khelaifi told a press conference on Wednesday.

‘We want Kylian to stay, but if he wants to stay, we want him to sign a new contract.
‘We don’t want to let the best player in the world go for free, it’s impossible. PSG is a French club, it’s his city, and he’s already said he doesn’t want to leave for free.
‘If today someone made him change his mind, it’s not my fault.
‘I’ll say it again, we won’t let one of the best players in the world go for free, that’s very clear. I will not repeat ‘
His comments come following a report from L’Equipe suggesting PSG have given Mbappe until the end of July to extend his transfer or be sold.
A number of Premier League sides have since been credited with interest while Real Madrid are also in the race having come close to sealing a move to the Spanish capital last year.
