Is this the end for Suki? (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)
Fans of EastEnders were left shocked after Wednesday, June 7’s episode – as it appeared Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) had been left for dead.
The Panesar matriarch mysteriously fell down the stairs – and viewers watched in horror as she lay motionless and possessive husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry) towered over her.
Prior to the fall, Suki had finally laid into Nish for his abusive behaviour, and she told him she’d never loved him – which Nish refused to accept, before heading off to find son Vinny (Shiv Jalota).
The incident occurred amid Suki’s plan to escape Nish’s clutches once and for all, and run away from Albert Square with her secret lover Eve Unwin (Heather Peace).
But is Suki – and therefore actress Balvinder – about to leave the BBC soap for good?
Here’s all you need to know.

In episodes airing next week (w/c June 12), fans will be relieved to see that Suki has survived the fall.
Eve is completely distressed about what’s happened to the woman she loves – and the fact that, after she’s released from the hospital, she’s sent back home to Nish.
Suki’s son Vinny, meanwhile, is left questioning what happened – and whether or not his killer father had a hand in the incident.

Some serious consequences for Nish, not long out of prison, emerge as a result.
Additionally, actress Balvinder Sopal recently discussed what’s to come for her character in a chat with Metro.co.uk.
‘There’s always big stuff coming up, I guess you’re just going to have to ‘keep watching’ – that’s the line,’ she teased at the 2023 British Soap Awards.
‘There is lots of stuff, and this triangle [with Nish and Eve] is very intriguing and there is a lot of curiosity around who is going to do what and how. I just think as the relationships deepen and become a lot more intricate, you’ll have to see whose side you want to take. It’s brilliant!’

If you’ve been delving into EastEnders’ Christmas death storyline, you’ll know that Suki is somehow involved – meaning she’s sticking around for a good while yet.
Balvinder told us: ‘It’s very exciting, absolutely thrilling but also nerve-wracking because I’m like: “Am I going to be able to hit the highs that they need?”
‘People love it and there is a lot of buzz around it. We’re all a bit curious about it as well. It’s lovely the way it’s unravelling for everybody at the same time.
She added: ‘I have to say Suki Panesar is only three years young so to be among legacy characters like Sharon, Kathy, Linda, Stacey and Denise… I couldn’t have imagined it.’
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
