Today, the plans of climate change protesters to disrupt King Charles III’s coronation by startling the royal horses with rape alarms are being discussed by Metro readers.
Many readers believe that this stunt is not only hazardous for both the public and the horses, but also unfair considering the new King’s persistent advocacy for climate change.

Activists to cause alarm at royal coronation
■ Protesters are planning to sabotage King Charles III’s coronation by throwing noisy rape alarms at horses in the procession, according to senior security sources (Metro, Mon). Organisers fear Just Stop Oil activists will join forces with other groups to disrupt the May 6 event.
They’re obviously not content with alienating the travelling public via their antics on the Dartford Crossing last year.
My cousin was permanently crippled when walking her horse. It was spooked and reared up and kicked her in the back.
Not only is this action of setting off rape alarms exceedingly dangerous, but why target our new monarch, who has been speaking out and warning of the climate change catastrophe since the ’70s?

■ Having just read about the Just Stop Oil protesters planning to throw rape alarms at horses in the procession, it makes me wonder if they are actually now ready to kill someone to promote their cause. Stampeding horses in a crowded place can most certainly do that.
As much as I dislike Piers Morgan, he was spot on when he asked a Just Stop Oil protester he was interviewing why they weren’t protesting in countries such as Russia or China, which are far worse at damaging the environment than we are.
He’s right – they are cowards.

■ OK, have your protest but don’t involve horses or rape alarms. Those have nothing to do with your cause.

■ How many anti-monarchy protesters will actually be going to work on the coronation bank holiday of May 8?

■ I think Eddie of Houghton-le-Spring (MetroTalk, Fri) will find that individual drivers who have caused deaths on smart motorways will have been
prosecuted. Roads don’t cause deaths, it’s drivers not paying attention

■ Regarding Putin’s cyber blitz on the UK (Metro, Thu), we have so many
criminal hackers in this country. The government should offer them all an
amnesty if they’ll hack Russian computers and infrastructure.
