Iranian journalist ‘targeted by Tehran’ posts update after stabbing outside London home
An Iranian journalist who was stabbed outside his home by suspected Tehranian agents has posted an update from hospital.
Pouria Zeraati was ambushed by knife-wielding assailants on Friday, who ‘laughed’ as they left the scene and entered a nearby car, according to an eyewitness.
Mr Zeraati works for Iran International, a London-based dissident channel which aims to provide independent coverage of Iran and has been declared a terrorist organisation by the Iranian regime.
The attack is thought to have been orchestrated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, although Tehran has denied all involvement in the attack.
Iran International spokesman Adam Baillie said the incident was ‘hugely frightening’ but Mr Zeraati was ‘doing very well’ and in recovery. Hours later, he posted a picture of himself in hospital, flashing the peace sign.
