Inside Celebrity Big Brother star JoJo Siwa’s relationship with social media star girlfriend
Celebrity Big Brother star JoJo Siwa is dating Kath Ebbs. After much anticipation, the latest season of Celebrity Big Brother hit screens last night.
Some of the famous faces in the line-up include Trisha Goddard, Mickey Rourke, Patsy Palmer, Danny Beard and JoJo Siwa.
Although some of the housemates have admitted they didn’t know who JoJo was, they’ve quickly been charmed by the American social media star and singer, 21.
JoJo first burst onto our screens when she was just nine, appearing on the reality series Dance Moms.
Since then, she’s created a loyal following, signed deals with Nickelodeon and released a string of hit songs.
Away from the glare of the cameras, JoJo is dating another social media star, with the couple introduced by a massive musician. Here’s what we know about JoJo’s private life…
What is JoJo Siwa best known for?
JoJo got her start on Dance Moms before signing a deal with Nickelodeon. JoJo– real name Joelle Joanie Siwa – first appeared on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition before she joined Dance Moms in 2015.
The following year she branched out into music, releasing her songs Boomerang and I Can Make U Dance, with the former’s music video being viewed over 1 billion times.
In 2016 she released a line of hair bows with the store Claire’s, which became a bestseller and were even banned in some UK schools due to their popularity.
JoJo then went on to sign with Nickelodeon in 2017, appearing in the film Blurt! and the show Lip Sync Battle Shorties.
Then focusing on her music career, she embarked on her D.R.E.A.M. The Tour in 2019, performing 52 shows across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
She debuted an edgy new look last year
She’s also appeared in a string of reality shows, including on The Masked Singer, Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, on which she was a judge.
Last year she shook off her kid-friendly image, debuting a new grown-up look upon the release of her song Karma.
Speaking about signing up to Celebrity Big Brother, JoJo said she was looking forward to ‘meeting new people’.
Asked what she would miss most too, she replied: ‘For sure my girlfriend; absolutely my girlfriend. Tied for first place though – my puppy. I have this joke, we always say ‘who do you love more – girlfriend or puppy?’ And every other day there’s a new favourite; it depends on who’s the better behaved.’
Who is she dating?
She went public with her relationship earlier this year. JoJo is dating Australian actor, writer, presenter and content creator Kath Ebbs.
The couple went public in January this year, with JoJo saying she was ‘so happy’ and in a ‘very mature relationship’.
‘It’s taught me so much about life. It’s taught me so much about love and respect, and it’s a beautiful thing,’ she told People.
‘It’s different in more ways than I can count. I wouldn’t even know what to say the biggest is ‘cause just everything is so different and special.’
The couple have gushed about each other in recent months
Soon after Kath spoke about meeting through their mutual friend G-Flip, a musician also known for being married to Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause.
‘They’re really good friends, and one night we just all went and hung out. Then me and Jo were friends for like, six months after that…then we turned into lovers ‘cos we would go line dancing together all the time! It was a match made in line dancing heaven,’ Kath shared.
‘I’ve never had such an emotional connection. Obviously she’s objectively beautiful, but it was just like such an intense emotional connection. We would be on FaceTime like all night — which is the most lesbian thing ever. We’ve literally been inseparable ever since, like U-HAUL. Once it was on, we’ve just literally been inseparable,’ they added.
JoJo had previously dated So You Think You Can Dance runner-up Dakayla Wilson, Avery Cyrus, Katie Mills, Kylie Prew and Mark Bomtempo.
What has been said about her appearing on Celebrity Big Brother?
She entered the Big Brother house last night. When JoJo was announced as one of the housemates on Celebrity Big Brother, reactions were mixed.
In a column, Metro TV Adam Miller wrote of the at-times controversial star: ‘For anyone who isn’t familiar with Jojo Siwa, for better or worse, the early days of this series I expect are going to be all about the LGBTQ+ pop star, now mainly famous for scissoring on stage in rhinestone leotards with performances that have gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
‘As much as she makes me wince, I feel for her. She is a nightmare on red carpets and should never be allowed on stage again, but beneath the garish outfits and relentless tongue-poking, she seems to have a good heart. Of everyone in there she’ll be the most interesting to see what she’s like when the cameras aren’t rolling and she’s not “performing”.’
Some viewers are already predicting she could win
However, she seems to have endeared herself to viewers so far
‘JoJo Siwa is coming to win Celebrity Big Brother,’ Mike posted on X.
‘JOJO SIWA! WHAT? I’m lowkey obsessed already,’ Rebecca shared.
‘That reaction for JoJo Siwa though!!! Gonna be interesting to see how she does,’ JC added.
Celebrity Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1.
