The Guardian quotes senior Tory MP David Davis, who told the prime minister in the Commons: “In the name of God, go.” The paper says his words “caused shockwaves” during the dramatic day in Westminster. The PM’s supporters sau he has the breathing space to fight back – although it’s believed 30 letters of no confidence have been submitted. The paper adds the PM is under pressure from Tory backbenchers to “buy their support” by axing the rise in National Insurance that is planned to kick in for April.
