Fans of Cobra Kai will be thrilled to know a legendary character is set to return for the final season of the Karate Kid spin-off.
Cobra Kai is a sequel to the beloved film franchise and takes place 34 years after, exploring the reopening of the karate dojo by Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka).
The creators of the series, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, announced that the six instalment would be the last and clearly are not holding back.
Bringing out the big guns – or hands – an iconic character from 1984’s The Karate Kid will return, although we don’t yet know how as he is presumed dead.
Master Kim Sun-Young will return, portrayed by C.S Lee who has reportedly joined the Netflix cast for the final episodes, according to Deadline.
In the original film, Master Kim appeared in a photograph played by Jun Chong and is credited with the creation of The Way of the Fist.

The martial arts style goes against the teaching of Mr Miyagi (Pat Morita) possibly set to add some tension to the show by way of another flashback.
Master Kim previously showed up in a flashback in season four of Cobra Kai, although not played by C.S Lee.
His character’s granddaughter, Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) appeared in season five to practice the martial arts style.
Alicia had teased the ‘darker element’ of the previous season being continued in the finale but said she was ‘curious’ about where it would go.
‘Hopefully, we will continue what we’ve started in season 5 on Cobra Kai… I think they’ve opened a pandora’s box with Kim Da-Eun and Master Kim Sun-Young,’ she told Deadline in October 2022.

‘It really brought a darker element to this season and I’m curious what could happen now that Cobra Kai is ostensibly defeated. I do know Kim is hellbent on global domination for her family’s legacy, so there’s a lot yet to explore.’
Cobra Kai was set to premiere in December of this year but was derailed by the SAG-AFTRA strikes and will now be moved to early 2024.
It’s imagined filming with start up again shortly, now that the strikes have come to a close.
Returning cast members include Ralph Macchio who first won fans in the original Karate Kid movie as Daniel LaRusso.
Cobra Kai season six will air early next year on Netflix.
