Huge queues at ports after P&O suddenly sacks staff and axes routes for 10 days
The Metro says massive queues of lorries built up at ports including Dover and Hull last night after P&O Ferries abruptly sacked its entire shipping staff over a Zoom call.
The company was branded ‘appalling’ after cutting 800 seafarers loose yesterday and telling them they’d be replaced with cheaper agency workers.
It said it was cancelling services for as long as 10 days while it ‘locates new crews’, plunging ferry ports into absolute chaos.
Lorries began building up at ports with nowhere to go, and drivers became increasingly frustrated.
