Brat summer is officially over and Charli XCX has moved on to a completely different project; a high fantasy queer period drama.
100 Nights of Hero will be the first time the Apple hitmaker appears in a full-length non-animated film after a voice role in the Angry Birds Movie (2016).
Charli has just finished her Sweat tour with Troye Sivan, who revealed that there would not be a European leg due to conflicting commitments.
Turns out one of the 32-year-old’s commitments is filming a fantasy film in a regal crushed velvet dark green dress; goodbye Brat green.
An embroidered green cape was draped over her shoulders, with a gold necklace and black belt with gold sun detail to accessorise.
According to IMDB, she will be starring as Rosa in 100 Nights of Hero, which is based on Isabel Greenberg’s popular graphic novel.
Charli isn’t the only big name attached to this project as Bottoms and The Idea of You star Nicholas Galitzine will be playing the villainous Manfred.
Deadline reports that the story follows Cherry — played by Longlegs’ Maika Monroe — who is married to Jerome but in love with her servant, Hero (Emma Corrin).
The two men make a bet that Manfred can seduce Cherry in 100 nights, the prize being he can keep her if he is able to do so.
However, Cherry is not interested and devises a plan with Hero to spin tales of wonder to distract this man from his seduction attempts.
The graphic novel is inspired by the folk tale One Thousand and One Nights, a collection of Middle Eastern stories also known as Arabian Nights in English.
On IMDB, the synopsis reads: ‘When a charming house guest (Galitzine) arrives at a remote castle, the delicate dynamic between a neglectful husband, his innocent bride Cherry (Monroe), and their devoted maid Hero (Corrin), is thrown into chaos.’
Charli has been enjoying an incredible year after dropping her number-one album which has been the buzzword of the summer.
She has since been announced as one of the headliners for Primavera 2025, joining forces with Renee Rapp and Chappell Roan in an iconic lineup.
In personal news, the Sympathy is a Knife singer also got engaged to George Daniel, a fellow musician known for The 1975.
There is currently no release date for 100 Nights of Hero, with no official word on who is playing Jerome either so watch this space.
