EastEnders star Jo Joyner has been speaking about why she isn’t planning on returning to the BBC One soap anytime soon.
The actress played the role of Tanya Branning, who hasn’t been seen in Walford since 2018.
Her final appearance saw Tanya return to say goodbye to Abi, who died after falling from the Queen Vic roof.
Months later, it was then revealed that Tanya was in a mental health hospital, struggling to cope with the loss of her daughter.
Tanya Branning was at the centre of many dramatic storylines over the years, largely involving Max (Jake Wood), who she was married to – until his affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) unravelled their relationship.
Despite the fact the wonderful world of a soap is never quiet, actress Jo Joyner chose to depart the show to try something completely different.
‘As soon as you got bored of one thing, you got a different thing, a new adventure’, she explained to The Sun.

‘That was very much the reason to come back out, and I’ve been lucky to do the same thing since, to mix things up.

Following her time in EastEnders, Jo has gone on to appear in many TV dramas.
She is also best known for her role as Mandy Carter in Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge and fronting the BBC One show Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators, which sees Luella Shakespeare join Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton) to help him solve bizarre cases in Stratford-upon-Avon.
