England are competing in Euro 2024 this summer hoping to win their first major trophy since their World Cup triumph 58 years ago.
Despite their poor performances in Germany, there’s no question that England’s squad is, on paper at least, more than capable of becoming just the second set of players to get their hands on international silverware.
But whilst England players earn a standard match fee for every match they play, the financial rewards for playing for the Three Lions are dwarfed compared to the salaries they earn with their clubs.
Let’s take a look at how much England players earn for playing for the national team.
How much do England players get paid?
England players are understood to earn around £2,000 per game for the Three Lions.
However, since 2007, England players have been donating their match fees to the England football Foundation.
The money is then distributed to charities, with England players having raised more than £15m with the initiative since it first started.
This means that the England stars will forego £14,000 for their efforts in Germany, should the team go the whole way and reach the Euro 2024 final on July 14.
And should England indeed win the European Championships for the very first time, Gareth Southgate’s men are reportedly in line to receive a mammoth bonus from the FA.
According to The Sun, England’s players have negotiated a significant share of the £24m the FA will receive as tournament winners.
The squad are reportedly set to share a pot of around £9.6m if they bring football home.
Southgate in particular looks set to be rewarded handsomely if he helps guide England to the title with the manager reportedly due £4m in that eventuality.
Southgate’s long-term assistant, Steve Holland, is also said to be in line for a tidy bonus.
