Lionel Messi is regarded as one of the best players to ever grace the beautiful game – but he could soon be swapping European football for North America.
According to The Athletic, Inter Miami and owner David Beckham are growing increasingly confident that they well sign the legendary Argentine in the next few months.

But how many club and country goals has Messi scored in total for Barcelona, PSG and Argentina across his career?
Read on as we crunch the all-important numbers.

Messi’s 672 goals for Barcelona is the most goals scored for a single club by a player in the history of football.
Messi has added to his goal record since arriving at French champions PSG despite a largely underwhelming first season with the Parisians in 2021-22 which saw him score just 11 goals.
However, Messi has performed better this season and the Argentine has already managed 12 goals in all competitions.
Since making his professional debut in 2003, Messi has averaged 37.9 club goals a season, with his highest tally in a single season being the 73 goals he hit in 2011-12.

Argentina were beaten in the 2014 World Cup final by Germany, before going in to lose the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals.
As a result of the heartbreaking losses in the finals, Messi announced his international retirement in 2016.
However, he reversed his decision shortly afterwards and he finally got his hands on an international trophy by guiding Argentina to the 2021 Copa America title.
