Manchester United’s squad are united behind Erik ten Hag and are fully supportive of his cutthroat decision to axe Jadon Sancho.
The England international was surprisingly cut from United’s matchday squad for last weekend’s match against Arsenal, with Ten Hag revealing that the 23-year-old’s performances in training had not been up to scratch.
Sancho reacted furiously on social media, denying his manager’s claims and insisting he had been made a scapegoat.
It is far from the first time Ten Hag has criticised a high-profile member of his squad in public having taken Cristiano Ronaldo to task before his acrimonious departure and also dropped Marcus Rashford for last season’s game at Wolves for shoddy time keeping.
According to ESPN, United’s squad are fully behind Ten Hag’s ultra-strict approach given he applies the same standard to everyone no matter their place in the pecking order.

The report adds that several players are ‘fed up’ with Sancho and have ‘had enough of him’ following two years of unfulfilled promise at Old Trafford.
Indeed, United were in talks with Al-Ettifaq on the final day of the Saudi Pro League transfer window about a possible loan move but negotiations stalled and the player will now remain until January, hoping to force a change of heart from Ten Hag.
Assessing the situation earlier this week, however, former United star Rio Ferdinand fears there is no way back for Sancho.
‘I’d be in the office saying what the f**k are you talking about, how dare you come out and question my professionalism when I’ve trained as well as anyone this week, what ae you talking about,’ Ferdinand told Vibe with Five. ‘I’d be giving it to him.

‘If you’ve played well. But no way Jadon is putting out a statement if he hasn’t, in his own eyes, performed well. That is the difference.
‘On his chart, Jadon trained alright but the manager will have a certain standard. There is only one way this ends right now. Or two ways, actually.
‘There is only one window open and that is Saudi. Or you’re on the bench or not in the squad for the rest of the season.’
